Week 8: Weigh-in Results

March 18, 2009 | Weigh-in Results

This is the 8th weigh-in, marking 2 months on my weight loss journey.  In my wildest dreams I never thought I’d lose this much weight this fast.

Mar 18 weight: 302.6
Mar 11 weight: 306.6
Mar 04 weight: 312.0
Feb 25 weight: 320.2
Feb 18 weight: 324.0
Feb 11 weight: 328.2
Feb 04 weight: 333.0
Jan 28 weight: 338.2
Starting weight (Jan 21): 344.2

4 pounds lost in the past 7 days, 41.6 pounds total in 8 weeks!

My wife is being induced tomorrow, so I’ll be a daddy by Thursday night.  I’ll be stationed at the hospital until Saturday with family in town for probably a few days after that, so it’s going to be a challenge sticking to my diet.

Fortunately, if I don’t get a chance to sneak out to the gym, the hospital provides convenient access to 6 levels of stairs on every floor.

That is great to hear! That is an amazing loss for 8 weeks.

I’m starting my new plan today.
(Quitting soda cold turkey, etc.)

I’m hoping to knock off 15 lbs in a month.

good luck with the baby, and with sticking to your plan with the baby. These are hard things to balance.

Do you feel any different about losing 4 pounds with the Friday superworkout? I want to say just 4 pounds, but that number is amazing no matter what.

Good job!!! And good luck/congrats about the baby :) If you get tempted to stray from your diet, just remember that you are doing it for the kid!

I started following your blog a week or so ago. Congratulations to you for so many reasons! You are amazing in how much you’ve lost.

May all go well for your wife. What an amazing journey parenthood will be.

Don’t worry about the next few days and eating right. You were so smart in calling it a lifestyle change and not “a diet”. Having a baby is a special time in one’s life!

Congrats on the weight loss. Many hospitals have workout rooms for their cardio patients. Maybe you can sweet talk your way in there if you have extra time.

Good job! I’ve been at this a couple of weeks longer than you, and it can be frustrating when the numbers start to slow.

I started out doing 6 pound weeks with regularity, but have settled into the 2.5-3.5 pounds per week after a little more than 2 months. Your body just becomes more resistant to change.

Yeah, but don’t let 2.5-3.5 pounds a week frustrate you — that’s still a considerable amount.

I’d suggest just pumping up the intensity — do it until you’re absolutely exhausted. I’ll soon be at the highest level on the elliptical and will have to find another way to challenge my body.

Good luck! Thanks for all the comments guys!
