This was a solid, average week. I hope and expect to lose close to this much weight every week until I reach my goal of 220.
April 29 weight: 275.8
April 22 weight: 279.6
April 15 weight: 283.6
April 08 weight: 289.2
April 01 weight: 289.6
I’ve lost 3.8 pounds in the last 7 days and 68.4 pounds in 14 weeks. To check out my entire 14 week weight loss progress, click here.
I’m so motivated to breakthrough my goal next week — getting under 275 has always been a huge milestone for me. After that, the two larger remaining goals are 250 and 225, both of which we’ll see before football season starts.
You just wait and see, buttercups.
While my spirits have never been higher, there are two issues presenting themselves. The first is loose skin — I should start addressing it soon. You can tell from the very first videos that I’m much more “plump” and “filled in” than the last several video updates. My skin is starting to sag.
The second issue involves clothes. We’re of a modest budget here in the Tyler household and while I’d love to go buy new clothes that fit every two weeks — it’s simply not practical. I’m outgrowing pants/shorts at a rate of every 2-3 weeks, currently wearing a size 40 waist down from 48 in January. Shirts are also becoming baggy and more loose by the day, particularly dress shirts.
I’ll just have to deal with it until I reach my maintenance goal of 220 pounds. I’ve had worse problems… you know, like weighing 344 pounds and slowly dying.

You might check out the Salvation Army and Goodwill shops to find smaller clothing at discount prices.. you can donate your old clothes while you’re at it! Good luck to you!
Another option for clothing might be freecycle. Check it out at freecycle.org — it’s basically people in your local area giving away stuff they no longer need as part of a kind of community/green ethos. It’d be easier to find things in precisely your size in a thrift store, but cheaper to do it via freecycle.
As I’ve been losing I’m finding cheap stuff at TJ Maxx.
It’s psychological when your clothes hang on you. It’s good – but you need that boost of some new stuff!
Good job tyler!
You need to find a friend who weighs less than you who is also losing weight so you can get his hand-me-downs when they’re too big for him. Then everyone wins! (This is totally working for me with a bunch of former classmates!)
Some items could be tailored in the meantime, although that can get expensive with pants or lined items.
4-5 pounds per week is so great! And you’ve been so consistent. I broke down and watched Biggest Loser last night (while on my bike, thank you very much), which I rarely do. It can be motivating, to be sure, but also unrealistic. I found myself being very discouraged over a “measly” 1-2 pound loss in a week compared to the contestants’ 10-12 lbs every week. It’s great to see people change, but the comparison can screw with your psyche a bit. Anyway, you’re doing great and I STILL love your blog. Check it every day now!!!
Congrats! :)
I’m back to losing, albeit quite slowly. Compared to where I was (and constantly gaining), at least I’ve tipped the pendulum the other way and I am slowly losing weight.
I am kinda worried about that moment in a few months where I have the same problem with the skin sagging. What would be the best way to combat/address it?
To help your skin build up elasticity, your skin needs to be hydrated. In addition to drinking lots of water, be sure to moisturize well. Plain old Curel is cheap and very hydrating.
Another thing to try is exercising those muscles that lie under the loose areas of skin. If, for example, your skin is loose in the belly and you exercise through cardio only, throw a few ab crunches into the mix?
You could sell your old clothes and buy some (almost) new clothes at a consignment shop.
what part of the country are you in? Do you have a 1/2 of 1/2 store or a Wrangler VF Lee outlet? Those are the two cheapest places that I know of for decent menswear on the cheap. The 1/2 of 1/2 store is a pain in the neck because you have to dig to get what you want but you can’t beat dress slacks for $8.00. Hope you have one near you.
I’m in South Carolina and have looked around Goodwill for some clothes my size…
Basically, I just buy a shirt or two and a couple of pants every two weeks. I just wear them over and over again. People are pretty understanding when they see me wearing the same thing, they know I’m losing weight.
Big and Tall yard sale, make a little cash from that wardrobe and make sure you never wear those clothes again.
Congrats on another awesome loss! That is fantastic! :)
And I agree… clothes not fitting because they’re too baggy is a good problem to have!
Hey Tyler! I’ve lost 52 pounds (302 to 250 so far) in the last 15 weeks and I’ve found so much motivation in your blog! I’m starting to find that loose skin is going to be an issue for me too. Besides working out a ton, drinking plenty of water, and moisturizing like crazy, what are your thoughts on dealing with it?
OK, I’ve done my 8k for you today! Looking forward to next weeks results!
My run for your weight loss next week will be on Friday.
