Before & After Weight Loss Pictures

July 17, 2009 | How to Lose Pounds

Today is picture day.

Homepage excluded, the pictures page is by far the most visited page on the blog.  It’s definitely my favorite page, one that I frequent quite often. On days when I feel like skipping the gym I take a look at a few “before” pictures.

That always gets me moving.

I’ve uploaded several new pictures of myself, most taken in the months leading up to the start of my weight loss journey in January.

This is the most recent picture:

100-pounds

This was taken last Wednesday.  I’m 100 pounds lighter in this self-portrait than I was in the first picture I uploaded some 6 months ago (the before shot with the plaid button down shirt).

There are two pictures left to be uploaded:  220 and 194 pounds.

I hope to show you both before Christmas.

Yes, I know I’m not smiling. Don’t read too much into it, I just have my serious face on. Trust me, the before shot with me smiling isn’t representative of my overall happiness, just like this quick shot of me now not smiling isn’t either.

I’m happy. I’m just being a tough guy.

By the way — anybody know what the shirt says?

Not one clue what the shirt says, but this comes to mind when looking at your pictures:

“And the person with the quizzical brow?”

“That is his good friend Mr. Darcy.”

Isn’t it great to see progress like that? They always provide the best motivation.

Very handsome but you look worried!

WOW…you look like a different person. I bet that people who haven’t seen you in 6 months would pass you right by on the street and not even know who you are. Wouldn’t that be great??

Tyler: Hey…(so and so)…how are you?
So and So: (looking puzzled) Do I know you?
Tyler: Yeah, its me, TYLER. How have you been?
So and So: Tyler? TYLER??? Holy sh**!! OMG. You look great!!!

:-D Have a good day Tyler. You really inspire me to go to the gym each and every day and to eat healthy.

It’s not just the weight loss that shows in the pictures. You seem to have a more confident, determined look in the more recent pictures.

Sandra — happens all the time!

And no smiles. Not until 194. It’s all business until 194. :)

Really, you look FANTASTIC. The guns are loaded. Good move on the haircut, too.

And you’re continuing to inspire me. I’ve been to yoga and the gym 3 days already this week and am going again tonight and tomorrow.

Those before pictures are just crazy, man. Larry is good; my “These Buns Are Toasted” submission would have lost.

I’m not worried about the expression but the bags under your eyes are another matter. You won’t reach your goal if you burn out first and you have a lot on your plate as a new father.

Don’t worry about those, I’ve had them for years. They have nothing to do with the weight loss or my workload.

Wow. What a difference! Scowl or smile, you’ve made great progress. And it doesn’t surprise me that the pics get so much attention. Before and after shots are so inspirational for people who are beginning their weight loss journey.

Wow. The bags under your eyes? Ouch. I guess anything is fair game when you put yourself out there for scrutiny. Not something I would have brought up—or noticed, for that matter—but that’s just me, I suppose. I think you look great. And you already know I want you to smile. I won’t say it again. (o:
