Today marks the 28th consecutive day of going to the gym.
I never used to go to the gym every day of the week until about a month ago. It wasn’t a conscious decision to keep going over the weekend — it just gradually happened. Instead of taking Saturday and Sunday off like I did for the first 5 months, the gym naturally merged itself into my every day routine.
Like waking up and breathing.
I almost feel “empty” until I step into the gym at night and go to work. I’m absolutely in love with going to the gym and being pushed to my physical limits. It’s an addiction. I know that the more I workout, the more calories I burn, and the more I have to show for it on the scale next Wednesday.
The accountability drives me. This blog drives me.
While the updates on my treadmill and elliptical workouts may be interesting to read on your coffee break and the workout pledges maybe a fun gimmick, every single one of you that has followed, commented, or sent me an e-mail through this blog over the past 6 months has had a little part in saving my life.
I’ll live another 20 years because of you. You saved my life.
And you drive me.

We don’t mind encouraging you with your journey as you are helping us with ours. You have no stinking clue how good it feels to me knowing someone else is going through what I am!
YOU DRIVE US!
Hi! It’s my first visit to your blog, but I’ll definitely be back! Well done on your awesome loss so far!
I started my journey at 345 pounds, so I know what you’re dealing with. I have had to do a lot of groundwork before I really got going, but I’m well on my way now and hoping to bust out of the 300′s soon!
Great post, T.
Chris: I second that. HE drives US.
Keep up the great work! :D
I dont think I could keep up with you. I go 4 days a week, and even then I can get pretty beat. Then again, I run an hour at a time on the tread mill each visit…so I’m doing in 1 day what I see most people doing in 2.
Remember though, the body does need rest. Don’t get too settled into a routine, keeping your metabolism on it’s toes will be best for weight loss.
I think it would be wise to create a forced Rest Day. Or instead of running/elliptical that day make it a weights only or walk only day. When I first started working out, I thought the rest day was only for the ‘hardcore’ athletes, but I found that the rest day actually improved my motivation for working out and made my runs the next day stronger.
Congrats Tyler, that’s the best kind of habit to have. Keep it up!

Great habit to get into! I still take weekends ‘off’ from the gym but try to use those days to try other activities with my husband and kids (even tho they are older). We will hike or take long walks, bike rides, family day at the local school track, etc., just to break up the routine a bit. By Monday, I’m ready for the ‘usual’!
This is a really awesome post.
In June I did the same thing. Somehow my workouts just kept going every day except the last day when I hurt myself. I really like the consistency of having some kind of workout/exercise everyday.
You are pretty inspiring dude! Thanks for encouraging us too!
