I enjoy making food at home. My wife and I both love the chicken and cheese quesadillas I make at home. A little bit of cheese and a lot of chicken, grilled onions and peppers goes a long way. The tortilla is 120 calories, so it’s important to only have a couple but for them to be STUFFED with ingredients.

This week was an average of 2134 per day. (Down 35 calories a day from last week.)
Glad somebody is counting. :)
I’m going to keep my calories next week below 2,000 — every day, even my normally lazy weekend.
Hi Tyler !
First, I appréciate a lot your Blog (sorry for my english, I speak French).
Second, congratulation for your actual weigh loss.
BUT
I think you should try to change your habit too. I means yours “fast food” problem.. because, if you don’t, I think someday you will fall down again. I see you food Journal, and near each day the is someting bad for your healt (soda, fried chicken, fast food pizza, etc.).
I have lost 163 pound in the last 11 month. I am not better than you to show you how to do. But, I think you should think of the quality of the food too.. not only the calorie. I have eliminate a lot of bad food, like Soda. You could eat bad food sometime, but not on each day. For me, the trick was to eat bad only when I have social event with friend.. and bad.. does’nt means “a lot bad” ! :-)
I have loste the “taste” for bad food now and it’s more easy to resist. That’s is probably why your weight stall around 220. But, don’t worry with all that, but you could give me your opinion about that. I hope you will continue to have good habit, not “Just” calorie counting. It’s for general healt too ;-)

Hae a super nice day !
Fred
I appreciate the post, Fred! You’re right, losing the taste for bad food and drinks and learning how to make and eat healthy food is the only real way to be “healthy.” I can lose weight eating junk food, but at the end of the day I’m still “unhealthy” relatively speaking. I’m healthier, but not as healthy as I could be.
We’ll take this journey into its second year and we’ll see if my food choices don’t progress. It seems like they already are with the exception of the weekends.
u should switch to diet soda…it saves a lot of calories.
i know some people complain about the taste, but a VERY cold Diet Dr Pepper really does taste the same as a real Dr. Pepper
Others I noticed, Diet Orange Soda and Diet 7Up. Diet coke doesnt really taste like real coke, but Coke Zero does.
I have really eliminated my liquid calories…other than diet soda, I dont drink sugary juices, my coffee is pretty black now (no more latte, caramel, mocha this or that) and as for booze, i stick to vodka and diet coke….called “skinny” bitches” at the bar with zero carbs. it cuts my calories by like 25%
I’ll have to give Diet Dr. Pepper a try. I’ve eliminated sugar calories pretty much any day but on the weekend, but I’ll still give some diet drinks a try.
Regardless, you’re right, liquid calories are worthless.
You should really listen to Fred.
He’s got good advice, that’s for sure.
Tyler,
A appreciate your feedback. I just want to said, that I’m not perfect too in the weekend. But, i gave me some bad choice only with friend on special event (like the past week-end at the NFL Game in Buffalo).
I really appreciate your blog.. I’m doing the same thing here in Quebec, and the Press follow me for many paper. My blog and my Press news are in “french”, but you coul’d translate it in Google or something.
I think people like you .. (and even me) could give people inspiration.
Don’t give up men !!! The next step is to continue, even if the scale don’t show a rapid weigth loss ;-) … but your life will show you many better thing !
Have a nice day !
Fred
Tyler, you mentioned above that you’ve cut out most sugar, but that’s not what I’m seeing, especially in your breakfasts. The cereals and granola bars are mostly sugar.
Have you had your blood sugar checked recently?
Not wanting to nag and harass, but I’ve been a little concerned about the high fat/high carb/low veg patterns for a while – it’s going to make it difficult to meet your goal and make it difficult to maintain.
I’m glad you are planning to work on the quality of your diet – it’s going to be another huge journey! I wish you well.
Please do not drink diet soda. It contains aspartame which can have very serious side effects in many human beings. The highest number of complaints to the FDA involve aspartame/nutrasweet. You are better off with the calories, etc. in regular soda. I speak from experience, I temporarily lost vision in my left eye and had severe eye pain when I was drinking a large diet soda everyday at lunch time. When I stopped my vision returned and the eye pain stopped in about 10 days.
