Revive Energy Mints

December 18, 2009

I’ve received a lot of free things through my blog.  A care package from POP Chips.  A gym membership to Hampton Hill Athletic Club.  A letter from Governor Mark Sanford.

And now hundreds of energy mints.

Revive Energy Mints sent over a heaping box full of the hundreds of  mints for me to try and give away.  The mints each have 85mg of caffeine in them (more than Red Bull, less than coffee) and taste, go figure, minty.  The packaging says the mints provide a small boost of energy, in addition to providing fresh breath.

I spilled all the mints over my desk for dramatic effect.

I took a couple of the mints on my way to the gym last night and they taste pretty good.  I love chocolate mints, chocolate mint ice cream, etc., so the taste and lingering aftertaste was great.  They also gave me a boost of energy.  I started feeling a caffeine buzz about 20 minutes after I took them, just as I was arriving to the gym.  I always used to drink a lot of soda while I was a teenager to help me stay up into the wee hours of the morning — this is the same thing, without the sugar and calories.  Oh, but it wasn’t the morning.  And I’m married now.  And 24.

Okay, maybe it’s not the same thing at all.

Regardless, it was a nice having a small surge of caffeine right before hitting the treadmill.  It wasn’t a huge rush of energy, but it was definitely noticeable — I could see taking the mints if I felt a little drab some random Tuesday afternoon, woke up after a really late night with the baby, etc.

Just as I was shocked when the Governor of South Carolina wrote me a letter and Anne of Hampton Hill offered me a free gym membership, I’m shocked and humbled that a company like Revive Energy Mints would send me over hundreds of dollars worth of product — energy mints for life, basically.

This year, this blog, and this weight loss journey cannot be anymore giving.

That’s a whole lot of energy mints! Congratulations on all the free stuff, you deserve it after all the time you put into this thing for us. Don’t ever quit writing, I need your daily motivation LOL!

I don’t know if I DESERVE it all, but I appreciate it. I won’t quit, at least not within the next year or so :)

Send a few over to me! I take caffeine pills from time to time cause theyre cheap and effective at keeping me awake. If I see some of these I’ll be sure to pick them up… mmmmm, minty!

I want some mints too!!!!!! hehehe…

I’m glad this experience has given so much to you, hopefully I can continue to have the same type of experience with my own journey.

Tyler December 21, 2009 at 8:35 AM

You will, Steve, just don’t quit!

I’m a firm believer in having caffeine before hitting the gym. The last small gym I was a member of, the owner was a big time runner and I would always see him drinking hot coffee while working out.

Now I cant do hot coffee while I’m working out, but I do it before. Apparently the stimulation caffeine has helps to better your pain tolerance. There are a lot of papers out there to support why caffeine is good for exorcise, its easy to google.

I’m definitely becoming a believer of caffeine before the gym, as well. Too much is bad, but I think a little pre-workout stimulant is more than okay.

*chants* GIVE-A-WAY! GIVE-A-WAY! GIVE-A-WAY!

Will December 18, 2009 at 9:07 PM

Ha! Yes! You should mail a mint to each of your beloved readers!

Tyler December 21, 2009 at 8:36 AM

Pay me postage, I’ll send 25 to both of you :)

Scott December 18, 2009 at 5:01 PM

Geez. If they want you to give some away, I hope they included a check for postage, too! lol

Tyler December 21, 2009 at 8:36 AM

I’m giving some away to mainly locals. It’s a huge box of energy mints, it’d take me 30 years to get through them all!

How on earth did you grow so quickly? I’ve been publishing my pictures on facebook and blogging my weight loss on LJ since I started on January 20th and yeah- nothin’. At all. I’m kind of (really) jealous, haha.

Tyler December 21, 2009 at 8:37 AM

I have no idea. I think the girls like me. :)
