If you don’t go to the gym for close to a week and don’t watch your calories while on vacation, you have a good chance at gaining weight.
That’s what the scale told me this morning, at least.
December 2 weight: 218.4
November 25 weight: 215.6
November 18 weight: 217.2
November 11 weight: 218.6
November 04 weight: 219.4
I’ve gained 2.8 pounds in the last 7 days and lost 125.8 pounds in 45 weeks. Want stats from past weeks? Check out my entire 45 week weight loss progress.
I’ve been digging out of this hole over the last few days. I was sick Monday and skipped the gym, which means I didn’t go to the gym from Tuesday of last week until last night — a week. That’s the longest I’ve gone without going to the gym during this journey and I’d rather not go that long ever again.
Not watching calories is one thing, being lethargic is another.
I don’t feel like I’m back into the swing of things yet, but I’m about 80-90% there. With another day or two at the gym my routine will be solidified again and hopefully I can weigh 215 pounds by next Wednesday.
How did the scale treat you after Thanksgiving?

Don’t worry about it, most of it is probably water weight anyway. I am sure you’ll be back to losing in no time!
I’m sure most of it is, but I’m sure I still gained a pound or so. Hopefully it’ll be gone by next Wednesday.
The scale was not nice to me. Or maybe I was not nice to the scale? I’m digging out of the hole, too, T. And I have talked to soooo many people who got sick after Thanksgiving…myself included. Weird stuff. Mad Turkey epidemic, maybe?
It’s just one of those times. I know a lot of people that are sick, but I live in South Carolina. One day it’s 70 degrees the next it’s 47.
I’m sure I don’t have to tell you but you have a downward trend (obviously!) so I wouldn’t worry about it. You’ll tear it up next week. :) Thankgiving was rough on er’body! I’m up 1 pound from my weigh in 2 weeks ago – I didn’t weigh last week because I was traveling and didn’t want to get a wacky read on my parents’ scale. With weigh in tomorrow morning I am just pounding the water today and will be happy with a STS if that’s what ends up happening. ;) Have a great day!
I set myself back a couple of weeks with this gain. Good luck with the weigh-in tomorrow morning.
I actually lost weight over the holiday, for some stupid reason. I didn’t have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner though, but I made up for that by eating pretty much everything else.
I hope you get back to 100% soon. You’ll dig out of the hole, no problemo. I personally think a Marathon Week Challenge (http://bit.ly/54cJBv) would help, but I’m a bit biased and have been whoring myself out for that thing all week.
Nice challenge! Losing weight over a holiday is an impressive feat, I’m jealous.
I was afraid of Thanksgiving so I did 6 miles of jogging and power-walking before dinner, which helped suppress my appetite. So, I didn’t do too badly. I actually lost 3 pounds this week. But the day is over and we can all get back to our regular routines.
You lost 3 pounds during Thanksgiving? Now I’m REALLY impressed. Maybe I should’ve jogged at least a mile, that might’ve helped me just like it did you.
i’m in the same boat as you, though due to being tired and busy, diet is the majority of the effort i have put in. maintain, maybe put a dent in the 150 lb goal, survive xmas, then really light it up in 2010.
Don’t wait until 2010, start now! Thanksgiving and Christmas only represent a few days of vacation, there is a lot of wasted time in there if you wait until New Years.
+4 pounds, but this is why I only weigh myself once a month. Im sure it will be settled again by mid-December.
I think I’m going to stop weighing myself entirely. That’ll fix my problem of gaining weight, right?
Was that meant the way it sounded? I dont weigh myself to prevent me from gaining weight, I just dont want to be affected by the ups and downs of everyday water weight loss/gain…so I only do it once a month.
No, it wasn’t meant to be mean! I was being serious, though. If I didn’t weigh myself every Wednesday, I wouldn’t really care about those 2-3 pound weight fluctuations — I’d still look fine in the mirror.
Know what I mean?
Way to get back in the saddle! I gained 0.6 for last week, not good, but not bad. It’s already off and then some…
Keep up the exercise, my friend!
That’s not bad. Congrats.
i was at 319 b4 thanksgiving and now at 317 after sooo
Good loss! I remember losing nearly 5 pounds while I was in the hospital eating junk and not exercising while my little girl was born — it’s funny how weight loss works sometimes.
It’s always a little disorienting when you get off schedule whether it be due to sickness, holidays, or vacation. You’ll be back on track in no time. As for my weekly weigh-in during Thanksgiving, I lost 5 pounds. ;) Let’s bust this sh*t out!
5 pounds is amazing. I checked out your website, absolutely fantastic before and after pictures!
Happy Thanksgiving anyway!
Hope you had a good one, too!
Between the Tuesday before and the Tuesday after, I lost 3lbs. It was a pretty lethargic week overall – I did my 200 reps from the 300 workout at Nerd Fitness on Tuesday, went for an hour-long hike the Wed before Thanksgiving, and a 3 hour hike on Saturday. No other “focused” exercise.
Kept somewhat active though with taking my wife dress shopping on Black Friday and hanging christmas lights on Sunday.
Winter is here, so I’ve broken down and joined a gym to keep me going while it’s too cold to be outside.
hey, gaining a pound or so isn’t the end of the world, and feeding your body right is important. :) you’ll be down the next time you weigh yourself, no worries.
It happens. Especially when you are as close to your goal as you are. It’s one of those instances where the numbers do lie.
