I lost nearly 150 pounds by counting calories. I once weighed 344.2 pounds, now around 200. My story has been told on CNN, CBS, and Newsweek and will soon be in a book.

I was at 291.5 in July, '09, and I decided a change was needed. It's amazing how my dietary habits are very similar to yours; I didn't go on the "grilled chicken salad" regimen. Instead, I reduced my calorie intake - I still enjoy the foods I love, just less of them. Now I'm down to about 234 and loving every minute of it!! You are an inspiration - keep up your great work!!

Good for you. I'm just getting started on my journey. I weighed in this past Tuesday at 282.2 which is the most I've ever weighed. I'm 40 and just 5'8" . I've tried all the diets before and this time I'm just trying to pay attention to what I'm putting into my mouth and I'm counting the calories. I'm on the wagon until I start losing some serious weight and can start adding in some exercise. My goal is to lose 100lbs this year. Thanks for the inspiration and good luck in the future.

I would recommend the Couch to 5K program. I was never a good runner, but now I have completed my first 5K and am on my way to graduating from an 8K program.

I'm a newby here, but my girlfriend told me about this site a while back. Your progress is truly inspiring! I just recently started watching what I eat and exercising regularly. And I agree...soda is terrible. I think I'm addicted to the stuff. It is very hard to get that out of my diet. Keep it up!

Well said, Adrianne. Soda is an absolute terrible, terrible thing and it's best to avoid it all costs. It does absolutely nothing good for you and a myriad of bad.
