Sidewalk Charity 5k Donut Run

April 13, 2010

I’m heading back to Charleston in a couple of weekends.

I was invited to participate by an ole’ buddy of mine in the 5k Donut Run being hosted by Sidewilk Charity and Krispy Kreme.  It’s being held on April 24 at 9 AM and involves running, eating donuts, and more running.

It’s my kind of well-balanced activity.

The race is being sponsored by Eat, Drink, Anything.  They’re paying my entry fee to the race and renting me a car for the trip (2+ hour drive).  I’m really appreciative for being sponsored as that means I don’t have to go out of my own pocket to pay for the race and related travel expenses.

While I’m registered, I’m still looking for at least two more people to register and race alongside me.  If you read the race description, the race involves eating a dozen donuts — the more team members you have, the less each person has to eat.  If one team has one runner, that runner has to eat all twelve donuts — two runners eat six, and so on and so forth.

The larger the team the better, obviously.

Anybody want to run and eat a couple of donuts for charity?

Do they shoot you or something if you don’t eat all 12? Sounds like a fun event for charity.

Maybe, we’ll have to wait and see. I’ll probably just sneak some of my donuts into the stack of another team.

That team might shoot me, though.

Can you run and eat the donut at the same time? They should have made this a 10K and made you run enough to work off a couple of them donuts. 5k won’t make a dent, especially if you stop in the middle.

Running for charity? Losing weight, and doing good. Bravo, sir!!

I wish I was there cause I would so run with you. But then I’d probably cry meeting you and that would be awkward.

Good thing I’m over here and not there.

I just ran my first 5K on Saturday! Not bad for a 54 yo mama. I would totally help you out, but we live on opposite coasts! Actually, for Krispy Kremes it might be worth the trip!

Well done and when is 54 getting old lol. You’re getting better!

All I know is that Krispy Kreme doughnuts taste good coming right out the oven otherwise they taste stale. Used to live right down the street from the Krispy Kremes in midtown Atlanta and I used to tell myself they taste so good hot they can hardly have any calories, right lol. Good luck with the race.

Tyler I’d be there but for the Virginia Tech Spring game that weekend. Next one! Charleston’s pretty close to Charlotte and any excuse to get there is a good one!

Eating donuts while running? Sounds like a dream come true. Wow, I’m still so heavy right now, so not ready to run yet, but man the donuts sound awfully tempting.

I know, I know…I’ll stay away from the local Krispy Kreme here, but man.

Good luck, and I wish I could run alongside of you. I too will one day be at a runnable (is that a word?) weight. Kick some ass, man.

Wish I lived closer — this sounds like a blast!!!
I have a Krispy Kreme sweatshirt I wear to the gym just for inspiration!

Can I just eat the donuts? Yes, please.

What a funny yet tasty combination. Well… donuts are high energy carbs and if you had one it’s not the worst thing you could have. Ha, it’s almost low fat for the fact it’s a donut!

Wow Tyler, I long for the day when I can run for more then 20 seconds at a time without feeling like I’m going to die. I’m glad to have broken the 340 barrier though and constantly work at it. I also stole the concept for your site, for mine, hope you don’t sue me :-)

We have one of those races (Krispy Kreme) here. I’m pretty sure I would puke.

Alisha April 15, 2010 at 4:36 PM

That sounds like fun…but thats too many donuts. Plus, all the running would be balanced out by the 200 cal. per glazed donut. Even 3 donuts would do it. >_<
