Three Ways You Can Support and Give Back to 344 Pounds Today and Going Forward

Want to lose weight? My story has been featured on CBS' The Doctors, CNN, and The Huffington Post. Learn how I lost over 125 pounds (100lbs in 6 months!) by clicking here.

I don’t like ads.

Three years ago, the average person saw 5,000 ads a day.  I’m sure that number has increased since then.  In fairness, ads pay for the salaries, equipment, tools, and technology that enable us to read, watch, and view content.  Ads are a necessary evil on the web, radio, television, and other forms of media.

They won’t be a necessary evil on 344 Pounds, though.

Advertisements, especially when associated with content, have the ability to influence those that produce said content.  Ads also have the ability to send readers mixed messages.  I have been on countless other weight loss websites/blogs that promote one way of losing weight, then have numerous ads from advertisers promoting another (high profit) fad or gimmick.  That’s not fair to readers.

Ads won’t be found on 344 Pounds today and they won’t be found here tomorrow or a year from today.  That’s my commitment to you.

I’ve had countless proposals from advertising agencies over the years.  I could’ve made tens of thousands of dollars, but I refrained. It’s not right to take money for things I didn’t and don’t use or support. It’s free to count calories and lose weight — end of story. I don’t want people to come here, see ads, and think otherwise.

With that said, 344 Pounds is a lot of work.  I spend countless hours away from my family my bed every single week maintaining this place.  344 Pounds is my hobby and my passion.  I love sharing my story with others to hopefully motivate and encourage them to change their lives.  I love helping people lose weight.  It’s still work, though, and it’s something that will be hard to do forever for free.  Time and effort aside, I’ve spent a lot of money maintaining, building, and expanding the site.

And while I do have a book coming out in a few months, I’ll only make about $2 on every book sold.  Unless I sell a lot more books than I anticipate, I won’t be living in The Hamptons this time next year.  I also plan on giving the book away for free to people who can’t afford it, which is a poor way to make money – so I’m told.

Here are three ways you can support 344 Pounds:

Donate money.  You can donate money through PayPal (either through PayPal’s service or using a credit or debit card) by clicking this link.  Any amount helps, whether it’s $1, $10, or $100.  Monetary donations really help when it comes to site upkeep, hosting, paying for software, adding features, etc.

And if you’re rich, you can just buy me a yacht — or diapers!

Share your story with me.  Does 344 Pounds help you?  In what way?  Do you have a weight loss success story?  E-mail me and let me know how I’ve helped you with your weight loss journey.  I love knowing and reading about the effect I’m having in people’s lives.  Don’t forget to send your before and after pictures!

Share your story with others.  Let people know about 344 Pounds.  Tell people about the individual posts you read and like on the blog — you can share them on Facebook, twitter, via e-mail, etc.  Traffic works a lot like voting.  If my web stats thing tells me that a certain post got a lot more visitors than others, then I know that people are interested in that specific topic and I’ll write more about it.

This won’t turn into PBS where you’re asked to donate after the end of every post.  I might make it a yearly thing.  By all means though, please feel free to just stop by, find some information or motivation, and go about your business.  I know a lot of people are unemployed at the moment, in school, or just have stress or other priorities and can’t do much giving.  That’s completely understandable.  If it is possible to support 344 Pounds in any way though, it’d be much appreciated.

Our regularly scheduled programming will resume tomorrow!
