Focused on Being a Great Dad and Husband
I’ve been focusing on my family for the past fourteen months.
I stopped posting on the blog during the summer of last year not due to a lack of interest, but a lack of time. Time during the day. Time left alive. I’m 29 — most of my friends and family (my wife) have already turned 30. For the first time in my life, I hear a ticking clock.
It’s muted, sure, I’m only 29; but I’m starting to realize it’s there.
Sooner rather than later, I’ll be 30. That’ll lead to 40. Tick, tick, tick. 50, 60, and even 70 might come for me one day. In the meantime, I want to play out in the yard with my kids. I want to swim underneath the stars. I want to make others happy. I want to live a life that’s fun, spontaneous, and fulfilling — blogging became too inhibiting.
Instead of just talking about and portraying living a “fun” life like some do (hello, 75% of Facebook status updates), that’s what I did. That’s what I’ll keep doing.
As a side effect, as the blog got pushed aside and life got busy and more enjoyable, I got distracted. I gained about 50 pounds. I’ve since resumed (caring about) being fit and feel great again. I’ll make sure to come back and update 344 Pounds from time to time.
I appreciate every single one of ya’ll. Go do something (great) with your life.
Tick, tick, tick.
