My name is Shawn Tyler Weeks and I lost nearly 150 pounds in about 15 months. I lost weight and continue to manage my weight by eating less and moving more, basically.  I still eat things like cheeseburgers, pizza, Mexican food, steak, french fries, you name it — I have no food restrictions, fad diets, meal plans, or gimmicks.

I just count calories.

I started the website you’re reading, 344 Pounds, in January of 2009 to act as an online journal or diary of sorts (also known as a blog) to talk about my weight loss. I have posted almost every weekday since January of 2009 on 344 Pounds allowing strangers, friends, and family alike from around the world to follow along as I lost weight.

  • Live in Columbia, South Carolina with my wife, daughter, and two dogs
  • Weighed 344 pounds in January of 2009.  In January of 2010, about 210
  • 6 feet tall, 6’1″ on a good day
  • 25 years old
  • Strongly believe that counting calories is the best way to lose weight
  • Posted over 400+ blog posts on 344pounds.com since January 2009
  • Not a so-called gym junkie or obsessed with working out.  I visit the gym 4-5 times a week for about 60 minutes (20 mins/cardio, 40 mins lifting weights)
  • Take pride in making new workout music playlists
  • Favorite fast food restaurant is Chic-fil-a.  Favorite restaurant chain is Outback
