Nice work …

5′-5″, I was 70 kilos and dropped down to 65.5 few weeks ago. I exercised more and tried to have a more healthy lifestyle. However, gained in back in 2 weeks. Few burgers, too many beers with departing colleagues, the excuses were abundant and now i regret. My target was 62.5kg, and get back in shape.

Your courage, goal and discipline will give me another boost …

Hey Ty, just caught the blog and think you’re doing an awesome job! Keep up the good work, sir, and rock that elliptical…ugh…I hate ellipticals; they’re just punishing. You’re a better man than I! GO, TY, GO!

Congratulations, that’s fantastic!

I’ve been losing weight too, not as rapidly as you, but it feels good to do it, doesn’t it?

Down 40 pounds in 12 weeks (started at 230, now at 190), and now I’m pushing myself to run a marathon in the fall!

Keep going man, you’re doing great!

Awesome, I’ve dropped 15lbs since christmas by cutting out bread! (And most other carbs)

The caveman diet works insanely well.

My friend directed me to your blog on your weight loss progress. Congrats to you man. I am in the same boat that you are in. I am 5′11″ and at the end of March I weighed 358 pounds. I have been cutting out the fast food and going to the gym and got a personal trainer as well. After 11 weeks I have gone down to 306.6 (51.4 pounds). I am glad to find this as it will give me more tips for my own path. Congrats on the birth of your baby girl and keep on going man!

Know what is good about what you are doing? You are being brutally honest with yourself, and always are accountable for what you eat through your logging of calories and exercise.
That makes the difference, I think, and also motivates you to do well because you know you’ll have to be honest and accountable.
Great work!

Oh my god…you’re never going to believe this in a million years, but I started losing weight on January 20th, 2009. It was my first weigh in. I was 350 pounds. Today, September 14th, I am down to 258.2- almost 100.

It’s kinda nice to know that somebody has been doing this with me- the right way. Without the surgery and stuff. I’ve come to love running- that’s my absolute favorite way to work out. I just ran a 37:00 5k today actually- I lift weights, I go to the gym- and I did it for the same reasons. Part of it was that I wanted to look better, but the bigger part? I wanted to fit in the booths. I wanted to ride the rides. I wanted to be able to shop for clothes without having to go to the back of the rack and praying that they had something big enough to fit me. I couldn’t shop at Wal-Mart anymore because they didn’t make clothes that were big enough.

I just…it’s so awesome to see that somebody else is out there. It’s so awesome. I can’t even describe it.

Congratulations on what you’re doing. I know how it feels. :)

Tyler,

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Having spent most of my life battling weight issues and listening to a million different pieces of advice about dieting, wellness, weight loss etc., I have never been so inspired as by this blog. I am so grateful that you have put yourself out there and that I can come to this blog (in my favorites folder!) and be reassured that I am not the only one out there. It is a terrible feeling to know that so many people are dealing with these kinds of issues, but feel so alone and lost in them, feeling hopeless and letting weight control their lives. Reading about your successes is like giving a big “Screw You!” to every fad diet, exercise gimmick, double-digit pant size, enabling friend or naysaying family member that routinely thwart people’s chances of attaining a healthy life.

I tell everyone I know struggling with weight loss about this blog and hope that they are as routinely encouraged by you as I am. Your journey this year has been a big motivating factor for me to stay on mine (down 34 lbs, on the way to 70). Thank you for taking on this blog and know that you are not just helping yourself, but many of us out there who just need a positive push to get on the treadmill each day.

Tyler,

You are a great inspiration and I just wanted to say thank you. You helped inspire me to start my own website back in August and I have not lost over 20 pounds. I have a ways to go but I will keep reading your blog to help me be inspired.

Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Tyler,

I just happened to catch your story on CNN. You know, sometimes people just need that little slap in the back of the head to realize that this just makes sense. Unfortunately, there are too many people looking for that ‘quick fix’. So they get discouraged whenever they ‘cheat’ or gain a pound instead of losing. You are a true inspiration.

Keep up the good work.

Darren

Congrats!!! Looks like you done an awesome job. In March 2008 I weighed 240 lbs and in November 2008 I hit 100lbs and now almost 2 years later I weigh 130lbs. Since the weight loss, I’ve successfully have been able to keep it off. I feel so much better and healthier since my weight loss. I wish I had created a blog for my weight loss experience. Congrats

Hi Tyler,
Great job. Where did you buy your scale.
I like the idea of it giving you decimals. How much did it cost.

Tyler,
I too live in Columbia, SC and came across your story on CNN iReport and I’m happy to see you do this. I’m also doing something similar to what you started last year, I want to be 214 by the end of this year. Counting calories has seemed to always work for me. What is your workout routine and how many calories to you allow yourself? Started at 314 now I’m at 294.

I’ve lost 20lbs and trying to lose more. I gained back 5 when I weighed in today and felt really depressed and like throwing in the towel. Thanks for pointing out it’s ok to gain a few, just get back to it the next day. It’s such a fight, wish it were easier. Thanks for your blog, it’s encouraging.

congrats – really inspiring – I too started @ 344lbs and my goal is 215lbs – tad shorter @ 6′1″ – a tad older 57 yrs but still looking for the challenge – training again hard @ the gym again after 22 years of bullsh-ting around- I realize that window of opportunity will not be there all the time – So the time is NOW! I guess health is an issue as well – I feel vanity & health go hand in hand – the better look the better you feel & the better you feel the better you look – So wish me luck, I’ll need it and I’ll post ya when I reach my goal – And again thanks for the inspiration
